As Sycamore Education expanded, we began to receive an increasing number of requests for a system that could help small colleges.  As we researched this new potential, it became quite clear that there was a huge void in this particular area.  Smaller colleges simply didn't have any viable options.  There were certainly campus management products available, but they were designed for larger universities.  These systems were unwieldy, and very expensive, requiring costly equipment and IT expertise.  And they took a long time to implement  - they just didn't make sense for small colleges.

As Sycamore Education expanded, we began to receive myriad requests for a system that would benefit small colleges.   We did some research and quickly discovered there was a huge void in this particular area.  Smaller colleges simply didn't have any viable options when it came to comprehensive online campus management.  Yes, there were certainly campus management products available, but they were designed for larger universities, they were extremely expensive and unwieldy, and they required costly equipment,  a great deal of IT expertise, and extensive support.  The start-up costs alone put these systems out of reach for most small colleges.  

The alternative was to buy several less expensive software products.  One product for enrollment, another to manage student information, another for grades and transcripts.....you get the picture.  The problem here is that the various products don't integrate.  Of course, this leads to disorganization, poor communication, and lots of redundant data entry.  It also means you have to maintain servers, try to keep them secure, and backup all your data.  Not a great solution.
